Skyrim Is a beautiful game but the modding community didn’t believe it reached its potential. They decided to take matters into their own hands and added a mod that changed how physics works in Skyrim. The mods I am talking about are HDT physics mods and they turn Skyrim from an immersive game to a whole new reality to get lost in.
#1 HDT Physics Extension
Let’s just jump right into this with the most important mod on the list. The HDT Physics Extension or the Havok Physics Engine is the basis of everything on the list and will need to be downloaded for all the other mods to work. What this mod does is it gets rid of the generic animations the Skyrim developers added and allows all objects to be affected by in-game movements and interactions to get rid of any staleness of the old animation that would defy gravity sometimes.
Basically, the Author of the physics extension plugin made this set of tools so people could use the full extent of Skyrim’s game physics objects. Also for people who like the popular bouncing boobs and skirts physics.
#2 Illustrious HDT Cloaks of Skyrim
This is one of the most important HDT mods that you need to download in my opinion. The HDT Cloaks of Skyrim Mod is an add-on to a mod called Cloaks of Skyrim. This mod makes it so all the cloaks and or capes from the Cloaks of Skyrim mod are affected by the HDT Physics Extension. If you are someone like me then you will definitely fall in love with the way HDT physics affects the capes, it really makes it feel more realistic.
#3 HDT Equipment
The HDT Equipment mod is one of the mods that really increases your immersion. What this mod does is it adds a weapon sling that allows you to holster your equipment onto your back and gives them HDT physics. You are also able to access a menu where you can adjust the positioning and the angle of your weapons as you please. The mod also allows you to give your followers the sling so they can look as awesome as you do.
#4 KS Hairdos – HDT Physics
Now to a mod that adds a bunch of new beautiful hairstyles. The KS Hairdos mod adds a bunch of hairdos that use the existing Havok Physics Engine. Now there aren’t any particular issues with the normal hair that is part of the retail game. Although that is the case this mod adds a whole bunch of new female hairstyles that are even more beautiful, especially my favorite ones like the ponytail and the angel haircut. If you are looking for true realism for your player model then this mod is a must-have.
#5 Dread Tentacles – HDT Enabled Hair for Argonians
The Dread Tentacles mod gives all argonians a new customizable trait, dread tentacles. These tentacles act like hair for the argonians and have the HDT physics applied to them. I love this mod because of the fact that argonians weren’t affected by any hair mod so you wouldn’t be able to enjoy the physics engine to the best of its abilities. If you are an argonian lover and want something that bounces around while your exploring then this is the mod for you.

#6 HDT-SMP Traveler’s Backpack
The Traveler’s Backpack mod is for those modders that want Skyrim to be even more immersive than it already is. This mod adds a backpack that uses the HDT physics engine. The backpack itself doesn’t do much but looks cool and also makes it so your character doesn’t look like they just put a shit ton of sweet rolls out of their pocket. The only downside is it doesn’t add anything to the mod base and is just something for your player character to wear.
#7 Equipable Beast Tails
In my opinion, this is something Skyrim needed from the beginning. The tails that you get on the khajit and argonians are so stiff and boring. This mod gives them the HDT physics engine so they can bounce around and act like a real tail. The mod also makes it so you can add a tail to any character and not just the animal ones. I love this mod and believe that if you play as a khajit or as an argonian then you should get this mod as it makes you feel like you are actually running around Skyrim.
#8 HongMun Coat SE with HDT
The HongMun Coat mod adds some pretty coats that all use the HDT engine. The coats come in all sorts of colors and all are really beautiful, especially because of how the HDT engine makes it move around. If you are looking for some normal clothes to spice up your character then you should try out this coat mod.
#9 Kellan HDT-SMP Armor
The Kellan HDT Armor mod adds some beautiful armor to the land of Skyrim. This armor doesn’t get the most out of the HDT engine but it looks beautiful with all the little movable pieces on it. One of the other great parts about it is this armor really fits into the land of Skyrim and doesn’t ruin the immersion like some other outfit mods.
#10 ESO The Breton Knight HDT-SM
This is the mod that uses the HDT engine to its full potential. The Breton Knight mod adds some armor from Elder Scrolls Online that looks amazing. The armor has a cloak that waves in the wind and the way it’s ripped up at the ends just makes it look so awesome in this engine. If you are looking for some armor that gets proper use of this program then this is the mod for you.
