Pokemon is a beloved franchise by many, but not everyone has experienced the beauty of the turn-based RPG game made to enslave as many monsters as you can and make them fight agains each other. On the other hand, Minecraft is a solid game that spawned thousands, if not millions of creative and artistic creators that are dedicated in bringing in the best content that they can contribute to the community.
And so we scouted the best of both worlds and combined them in this list. Here are our top picks for the best Minecraft Pokemon mods that will surely satisfy your cravings for childhood nostalgia.
Pokecraft- A Pokemon resource pack!
Created by: Iaeyan_Elyuex
Back From Dead, although as ironic as it sounds, it back from its eternal slumber to provide us with fond memories of children assaulting us in the forest, craving violence and Pokemon battles that they cannot win. This mod by Iaeyan_Elyuex is the perfect startup mod that you can try to let you experience the beauty of Kanto region and the flora that resides in the perfect Red/Green game.
One of the key features of this mod is integrating Pokemon characters, like Wobbuffet as a creeper, or Ursaring as zombies, into the game to make it feel more immersive and satisfying to play, like a 3D Pokemon with the higher sprites than normal.
POKEMON JOHTO/KANTO PROJECT
Created by: blitzscrank
Experience the beauty of the Johto and Kanto region and explore various in-game locations that were revived for the sake of the project. Pokemon Johto/Kanto Project was made to showcase the natural beauty of these regions and relive the memories of playing on a GBA that you borrowed from your rich friend.
Pixelmon Johto – Pokemon’s Johto & Kanto recreated
Pixelmon Johto is your standard Pokemon mod that will let you experience the entire gameplay of old Pokemon games like training your Pokemon, collecting multiple gym badges, defeating strong enemies, like the Elite 4 or your patience, and of course, exploring the world.
It’s a pretty neat game that will help you understand why modding Minecraft is better than releasing 3D Pokemon games.
Created by: Staceylynmay
Although quite buggy, this Pokemon mod is made for fans of the Fire Red/Leaf Green version of the game. I mean, it’s our first game after all. This recreation of the ancient Pokemon game will take you to the better regions of Kanto, where you’ll be able to battle your to be the very best like no one ever was.
Pokemon Gold 1.11 [Custom Sounds!]
Created by: 197ShinyUmbreon
The Gen II gang will rise from the ashes and rise like Moltress when they hear about this. Pokemon Gold 1.11 is a recreation of the game, Pokemon Gold and Silver. This masterpiece was done by 197ShinyUmbreon and was made to let people experience the absolute class of Gold and how it stands toe-to-toe with recent releases and will still emerge victorious.
Pokemon Unova Adventure Map! [Minecraft] [BLACK/WHITE]
Created by: blitzscrank
Pokemon Unova is an adventure map made by the same guy who made Project Johto/Kanto. And it’s damn good. This mod features famous villages in the game, like the Accumula Town, Striaton City, the bustling Castelia City, and many more. It’s more of a showcase and adventure, rather than full-fledge mod that has quests and all that.
Pokemon Mob Skins
Created by: Audra
This simple mod will allow you to experience the world of Pokemon with nothing too complex as making you battle 4 billion people in the world to be the very best. This mod will simply just turn your dull and bland world into a safehaven for Pokemons to roam around and well, go on with their Pokemon lives, until you “capture” them.
Pokemon In Minecraft Johto
Created by: Nynaevedesign
This fragment of the turn-based RPG marvel of a game is a mod for regular Minecraft. One of the best things about this mod is how similar the designs, how well-polished its architecture, and how beautiful the style that Nynaevedesign did with the overall production of this mod.
The main objective is simple, defeat the Elite 4 and explore the world.
Pokemon Stadium 2 from Super Smash Bros Brawl (Thumbs up if you like it XD)
Created by: berserkdude
A recreation of the Pokemon Stadium 2 from the hit melee game, Super Smash Bros Brawl. This Pokemon tournament ring is one of the most iconic stadium simply because this is where Mewtwo decided to stop his genocidal tendencies in one of the best arcs in the Pokemon anime series.
PokeBlocks v0.6 – Pokemon in Minecraft
Created by: MasonoAlistair
PokeBlocks is one of the oldest Pokemon mods in this list and one of the genre-defining mod that spawned hundreds upon hundreds of Pokemon mechanics that were integrated into the game. This mod will let you experience, at the minimal, the beauty of Pokemon world without having you run into quests to save the world and all the cliche stuff.
Pokemon Go with only ONE command!
Created by: MoacTube
If you ever played Pokemon GO on mobile, this will be your best bet to experience the mobile goodness, now inside your PC masterrace build. It’s a very basic mod with little to no difference from the mobile game counterpart.
Working Pokemon FireRed GBA
Created by: Reqaug
Modders constantly amaze me with their creativity. This mod by Reqaug is something you should be playing if you can’t afford to buy a used GameBoy Advanced. This mod will allow you to experience the nostalgic game, Pokemon Fire Red and immerse you in the world of Pokemon, as Professor Oak used to say.
It’s like one of those DOOM ports that you can play, even in an ATM Machine.
Pixelmon Johto: A Pokemon Adventure [Pixelmon Reforged 8.1.2, Minecraft 1.12.2]
Created by: Jond
This Pixelmon Reforged mod is another Pokemon adventure game made by Jond and has similar aspects as the Pixelmon Johto, except the only difference is that this mod is actually well-polished and is receiving constant updates from its developer. It’s refined and completed already. It’s highly suggested that you should have this one if you want a better version of the previous projects in this list.
Ambience Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky Music Pack
This sound pack is packed with the aesthetic of Pokemon games, the music. This audio deluxe for our starving ears are one of the best music packs you’ll ever hear. I think it’s pretty good with PixelMon Reforged, especially with the PixelMon Johto mod above since they go hand-in-hand with each other.
The more refined version of the previous entry, this Pokemon Go mod will let allow you to hunt Pokemons like a caveman hunting for his food for the next winter. It’s very detailed and quite an eyepleaser, especially if you’re running on OptiFine, PixelMon, and a high caliber nVidia or AMD GPU.
Well, this is just an immersion project where you’ll be able to experience how it’s like to be a gym leader. Mod also has their own respective badges, trainers, and even their own gym to flex those trainer muscles. It’s nothing special, but a treat that we’re all gonna take. It works better on roleplaying servers.
Created by: Deathly Toast
This mod is just a recreation of the Pokemon stadium in Kanto region. I think it’s pretty neat, but the overall design can be a bit lacking in flavour. I highly suggest playing Pokemon with this mod because of how it works and how clean it is, compared to the overly saturated designs of most Pokemon mods. The simple, the better.
