Here’s everything you need to know about Skyrim “Archive Size Bigger Than Entire Mod” Error Message and what you can do to resolve this issue.

Although Skyrim came out a decade ago, it is still one of the most popular games in the world. The game is played by PlayStations users, Xbox users and even PC users. The reason why the game is still alive and popular is because it is HIGHLY moddable.

Players use fan-made mods and customizations to improve the Skyrim’s performance, keep it running bug-freely and adding new quests, characters, crossovers, overhauls and a lot more modifications to get a new experience in Skyrim.

However, installing these mods is a bit of a risk as a few of them have corrupted files. These files can crash your game, prevent the modifications from loading or cause several other issues.

Some mods would even work fine for a few months but later get corrupted.

For instance, imagine that you have installed a Skyrim mod that has been running smoothly. But one day, out of the blue you get an error message saying “Archive Size Bigger Than Entire Mod”. This means that one or more mods that you are using or trying to download is corrupted.

This error message is usually common with people frequently installing Skyrim mods. So if you have ever received this error message, keep reading to find out what you can do to resolve the issue

How To Fix Skyrim “Archive Size Bigger Than Entire Mod” Error?

The reason why you are getting this error message in Skyrim is because a mod that you have installed or are trying to install is corrupted. I found a few hacks on The Nexus Forums. Try one of the following solutions to resolve the issue:

Fix # 1: Unsubscribe From The Mod

To unsubscribe from the Skyrim mod(s), follow these steps:

Step 1: Restart Skyrim and if the error message “Archive Size Bigger Than Entire Mod” still pops up, notice the name(s) of the mod(s) that are causing the error message to appear.

Note: If you don’t get this error message, it means that a mod that you are downloading is corrupted.

Step 2: Now on your launcher, go to the Data Files > Skyrim Workshop and login to the Workshop.

Step 3: After you have logged in, click on your display picture on the right hand bar.

Step 4: Next, click on Subscribed Items.

Step 5: A list of all the mods that you have subscribed to will appear. Unsubscribe from the mod(s) that are causing the error.

Once you have unsubscribed, your game will run perfectly. However, if you do not want to get rid of the mod, you can try reinstalling it.

Fix # 2: Reinstall The Mod

Follow these steps to reinstall the problematic mod:

Step 1: Create a copy of your Skyrim \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Data file.

Step 2: Now go to your subscribed mods on Skyrim Workshop and unsubscribe from the mods causing the error.

Step 3: After unsubscribing, copy the relevant saved esp and bsa files back into the data file.

Step 4: Next, go to the Launcher > Data Files and check if the mod is appearing in the right load order and is ticked.

Once you do this, the error will not appear anymore. However, if the error message still appears, you will have no choice but to unsubscribe from the mod.
